The Living Desert... Where the Wild Things Live
Visit The Living Desert and experience its mission to preserve a portion of the Colorado Desert in its natural state.

A zoo and botanical garden spread over 250 acres! Giraffes, mountain lions, wolves and cheetahs are just a few of the incredible animals that take you from Africa to North America.

We recommend starting your day bright and early as the coolness of the early morning brings out the best of the animals. Chances are best you will see them eating, playing, doing their early morning stretches, or hoping to catch the wind for the scent of other nearby animals. Warthogs and javelinas rout and romp in the morning hours, contentedly grunting during nap time in the midday sun.

As the day warms up, enjoy viewing the birds of prey, watch the tortoises and lizards come out of their hiding places.

And as the sun begins to set, view the magnificent cheetah's as they climb their way to the top of the ridge to watch the sun set!
